Michael Rider serves as the Vice Chairman for the Sun Valley General Improvement District(SVGID), where he brings a deeply rooted passion for public service and a long-standing connection to the Sun Valley community. As a small business owner specializing in upholstery, Michael understands the value of hard work, dedication, and listening to those he serves.

As a Sun Valley resident and youth advocate, Michael has spent over 20 years coaching local sports and mentoring young residents. His decades of involvement earned him the Community Service Award in2015—recognition of his unwavering commitment to creating a positive, supportive environment for Sun Valley’s youth and families. Since joining the SVGID Board in the fall of 2019, Michael has worked to ensure access to clean, affordable water and to protect and enhance the area’s parks—believing that these spaces are vital for recreation, connection, and youth development.

He also serves on the Sun Valley Citizens Advisory Board, where since 2016, he has helped elevate community voices in key decision-making processes. As a Trustee, Michael brings a practical, hands-on approach. He believes in working hard, keeping an open mind, and always doing what’s right for the community. His focus remains on helping those in need, advocating for Sun Valley’s children and seniors, and supporting projects that improve quality of life across the valley.
