Parks & Recreation

In 2010 the District acquired from Washoe County the 26.09 acre Sun Valley Community Park and the Robert & Norma Fink Pool Complex “Sun Valley Pool”. Then, in 2011 The District acquired the remainder of the Sun Valley Parks. Those parks are the 8.35 acre Gepford Park, 30 acre Highland Ranch Park, and 2.8 acre Sun Mesa Park.

The District ’ s mission is to provide recreation and outdoor opportunities while protecting and preserving the parks and surrounding properties natural beauty through a variety of recreational amenities.

Sun Valley Community Park

Parks Amenities: Park includes: Covered Picnic Areas, Barbecue Areas, Playground Area, Baseball Field, Inline Skate Rink, Skateboard Park, Soccer Field, BMX Track, Basketball Court, Volleyball Court, Neighborhood Center, Teen Center

Gepford Park

Parks Amenities: Basketball, Play Structures, Picnic Areas. Group/Party Use of Picnic Pavilion is by reservation only. Sun Valley General Improvement District is currently not accepting reservation applications for Park Pavilions.

Highland Ranch Park

Parks Amenities: Basketball, Horseshoes, Play Structures, Picnic Areas, and Volleyball. Group/Party Use of Picnic Pavilion is by reservation only. Park includes: Covered Picnic Areas, Barbecue Areas, Playground Area, Basketball Courts, Hiking, Horseshoe Pits, Volleyball Courts.

Sun Mesa Park

Parks Amenities: Play Structures and Picnic Area. Group/Party Use of Picnic Pavilion is by reservation only. Park includes: Playground Area; Turf Area, Covered Picnic Area
