Bio
Mark Neumann serves as the Treasurer for the Sun Valley General Improvement District (SVGID), where he has been actively contributing to the community’s well-being for nearly three years. A longtime resident of Sun Valley—having lived in the area since 1997 and in Nevada since 1962—Mark brings deep local knowledge, historical perspective, and a strong commitment to serving the residents of his community. A retired union sheet metal worker, Mark brings the values of hard work, teamwork, and accountability to his role on the board. His dedication to public service is reflected in his appointment to the Washoe County Senior Services Advisory Board, where he advocates for the needs of senior citizens throughout the region.
During his time as a Trustee, Mark has championed initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for both seniors and youth. He was instrumental in pushing for free senior swim days at the Sun Valley Pool, ensuring access to recreational resources for older adults. He also played a key role in securing an ARPA grant for improvements to the Sun Valley Regional Park’s bike park—helping to provide safe, active outdoor spaces for children and families.
Mark believes in collaboration and consensus when it comes to making decisions that impact the community. He consistently works alongside fellow board members to do what is best for Sun Valley, advocating for thoughtful policies that enhance parks, recreation, and essential services.
His focus is especially strong on supporting programs that benefit the valley’s youngest and oldest residents, recognizing the importance of intergenerational well-being. His approach is simple but powerful: when board members and community members come together for the common good, great things can happen.
