TARIFF HEARING SUMMERY / WATER RATE INCREASE
The District values its customers and strives to keep rates down; however, due to economic conditions and rising costs, the District reluctantly had to pass through some of these increases. On April 9, 2026 the Board approved the passthrough of Truckee Meadows Water Authority 3.5% rate increase and an additional 2% by the District to help balance the District Water Budget. This increase was implemented on May 1, 2026.
A Tariff Hearing was held on April 9, 2026. The following is a summary of some of the key Rate and Fee Changes that went into effect on July 1, 2026.
Rule No. 6 & 21 – Disconnection for Non-Payment of Bills:
Customers whose service is disconnected for nonpayment will be required to pay the full outstanding balance rather than just the past due balance before service is restored. In addition, the reconnection fee was increased from $40 to $50.
Rule No. 20 – Water Rates
A two-tier water consumption rate structure will now apply to Domestic service for Commercial and Industrial customers:
• Tier 1: $2.94 per thousand gallons for 0–10,000 gallons
• Tier 2: $4.21 per thousand gallons for usage over 10,000 gallons
Water base rates have been increased for all meters in excess of 1”.
