DID YOU KNOW
Each year, our field staff performs vital sewer main maintenance using high-pressure hydro flushing. This process clears out debris, grease, and sediment that can build up over time and cause blockages or overflows.
By flushing the lines with powerful water jets, crews keep the system flowing smoothly and reduce the need for emergency response. This routine maintenance protects public health, prevents service disruptions, and extends the life of our sewer infrastructure.
NEW SVGID WESBITE
The District is excited to announce it has launched its new website. A special thank you to BDG Web Design and Development for their dedication to detail and tailoring a site to help District customers a user friendly experience.
KTMB CLEANUP & E-WASTE RECYCLING RESULTS
The District partnered with Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful for the annual Great Community Clean-up in May. 103 volunteers joined the cause resulting in the removal of 62,320 pounds of trash including 140 tires and 3 cars. The District also held a month-long electronics recycling event in partnership with Intelligent Lifecycle Solutions in April. This event was very successful with the collection of 84 televisions, 7 monitors and a total of 1,337 pounds of various recycled electronics. As a reminder Intelligent
Lifecycle Solutions accepts electronic recycling year round, fees apply for TV’s and CRT monitors. For more information, call 775-690-9348. If you are in need of disposing appliances/heavy metal, Sims Metal accepts recycling year-round. For more information call 775-331-3023.
FROM YOUR GENERAL MANAGER
The District would like to take a moment to thank all of our valued customers. We truly appreciate your continued support, patience and understanding as we work to improve the services we provide to our community.
To help provide more efficient service we completed a consolidation of billing cycles, so addresses in each cycle are in close proximity to each other. We know changes bring questions, and encourage customers to call the Customer Service Department with any inquiries, payment arrangements, or other needs you may have. Staff is always there to assist and respond to your billing inquiries or concerns. We also want to thank the community for your understanding to our new business hours that went into effect in January. For the most up-to-date information, we encourage you to check our website, Facebook page, or call us directly.
Once again, thank you for being part of the Sun Valley community and for allowing us to serve you. We remain committed to providing friendly, and reliable service every step of the way.
THANK YOU
The District wants to send a special thank you to the Fink Family and Commissioner Garcia for their continued support sponsoring this year’s FREE SWIM days! A big thank you to our fantastic 2025 Lifeguards. This year’s staff went above and beyond to serve the community, making the health and safety of our pool patrons their top priority, while providing a fun and refreshing way to spend the summer days. If you know anyone who enjoys the water, being outdoors, and helping others, please
have them contact the District to be added to next year’s lifeguard interest list.
WINTERIZING TIPS
Cold weather is coming—don’t forget to prepare your outdoor water systems. A few quick steps now
can help you avoid costly repairs later.
• Shut off and drain outdoor faucets – Turn off the water supply and let the water run out.
• Disconnect garden hoses – Store them indoors to keep them from cracking.
• Cover spigots – Use insulated covers or wrap them to protect against freezing.
• Winterize sprinkler systems – Shut them down and drain the lines.
• Clear gutters and drains – Keep water flowing away from your home to prevent ice buildup.
Taking these steps will help keep our homes and neighborhood safe and ready for winter!
COMMUNITY SUPPORT
On behalf of the District and the Sun Valley Community, thank you to the Haws Corporation for graciously donating a new drinking fountain for Gepford Park. Their investment provided enhanced existing park amenities for everyone to enjoy.
