RECREATING IN SUN VALLEY

After a long wet winter, it is time to get outside and recreate. Parks are well maintained and a great place for all to enjoy.

Sun Valley Community Park is the District’s largest family park. The 26.09 acre park offers a outdoor pool, soccer field, baseball field, volleyball court, basketball court, inline skate rink, skate park, BMX park, playground and walking path. The park also features Pre-K Program offered by Community Services Agency, Washoe County Senior Program, and Family Resource Center. Adults and youths can also participate in Zumba Fitness and Reno United Tang Soo Do Martial Arts.

Gepford Park located at the corner of Gepford Parkway and Leon Drive, is one of Sun Valley’s most popular parks and home of the Sun Valley Cal Ripken League. The 8.35 acre park includes a playground, covered picnic area, 4 Little League Baseball Fields, and 2 basketball courts. Consider reserving the park for your next party venue or support your local youth baseball league by visiting and watching a game.

DIVE INTO SUMMER

SUMMER POOL OPENING
The Robert & Norma Fink Sun Valley Pool opens for the season Friday, June 7th and will operate through August 11th. Check the District website svgid.com and Facebook for information on swim lesson dates, free swim days and the annual end of season pool party. Swim lesson registration begins on May 1st and on a first come first serve basis.

7th ANNUAL DIVE INTO SUMMER
The annual Dive Into Summer event at the Sun Valley Community Park is also Friday June 7th in conjunction with the pool opening. The event begins at 6:00 pm and will include this year’s FREE feature presentation of Hotel Transylvania 3, rate and will begin at dark. Bring your family, friends, blankets and lawn chairs for this popular community event.

 

LIFEGUARDS WANTED

The District is seeking certified lifeguards for the 2019 Sun Valley Pool Season. Applications can be found on the District website or at the District offices at 5000 Sun Valley Blvd., Sun Valley, NV.

 

ENJOYING SPRING & CONSERVE WATER

During Spring most enjoy bringing their gardens, lawns and flowers back to life. Drought tolerant plants are encouraged and readily available that can provide not only a pleasant landscape, but will conserve water during a high water season. The District recommends following the 3X a week water plan; odd days Wednesday Friday & Sunday and even days Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
