Message From Your General Manager

After more than 25 years of working at the Sun Valley General Improvement District, I have decided it is time for me to retire.

I began my career at the District as a Service Technician and have been fortunate enough to work my way to becoming the General Manager. One of my proudest accomplishments over my tenure has been to clean up the budget, audit, and Tariff rules to protect the customers of Sun Valley to not have to bear the cost of new development.

I am now looking forward to traveling, visiting family, hunting, fishing, camping, and working on my classic cars.

It has been my pleasure to serve the District and work with our amazing team and customers.
Sincerely,
Jon Combs

Rate Increase

On April 18, 2021, the District Board of Trustees approved a multi-year 2.5% water consumption rate increase for 2021, 2022 and 2023. These increases are a direct cost to the District by TMWA, and as such, need to be passed on to District customers. These increases have been adopted and approved by the District Board of Trustees and will go into effect beginning June 1, 2022.

Watering Days

The District encourages water conservation year-round. With a dry winter we all must do our part to help conserve water. The District recommends following Truckee Meadows Water Authority’s schedule to water three times per week.

Odd addresses should water on Wednesday, Friday
and Sunday.

Even addresses should water on Tuesday, Thursday
and Saturday.

For more water conservation tips visit the District’s website at svgid.com.

KTMB Great Community Cleanup

Join us April 30th for the Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful Great Community Cleanup. This annual event helps Sun Valley clean up illegal dumping and encourages local community members to join in and volunteer. For more information visit www.KTMB.org or call (775) 851-5185.

Pool Updates

We are excited to announce that the Robert & Norma Fink Sun Valley Pool will open for the season Friday, June 10th and will operate Tuesday-Sunday through August 14th. Check out the District’s website for more information on pool events and activities.

The District is hiring lifeguards and cashiers for the 2022 Sun Valley Pool Season. Applications can be found on the website at svgid.com or can be picked up at the District office.

Movie In The Park

The District will be hosting a FREE movie in the park at dark showing The Croods: A New Age. This event is scheduled for Friday, June 17th at the Sun Valley Community Park. Watch the District’s website and Facebook page for event details.

Sun Valley Citizen Advisory Board

Did you know that Sun Valley has its own Citizen Advisory Board (CAB)? CABs are the formation of appointed community members representing specific regions within Washoe County. Sun Valley Citizen Advisory Board (SVCAB) is a 7 member board that meets once a month for the purpose of bringing community members together to discuss topics of current and ongoing concerns/interests within the Sun Valley community. The SVCAB meeting reports are shared with Washoe County District Commissioners and staff for further discussion and potential action.

Please visit www.washoecounty.gov  to view the meeting schedule or learn how you can become a member.

For comments or concerns you would like heard by the Sun Valley CAB, please email svcab@washoecounty.gov.

Calling All Veterans

The District hosts an annual veterans appreciation event each November at the Neighborhood Center and has begun making plans for this year’s event. We would like to hear back from all of our local veterans who are District customers to get some feedback as to what you’d like to see included in this year’s event. Please contact Erin at the District office to provide your input, by calling 775-673-2220 or emailing edowling@svgid.com. We thank you for your service to our country!
